Most Famous Locations Noted For San Antonio Hauntings

By Elizabeth Price

Ghost stories are nothing new, with many famous tales found in novels turned into Hollywood blockbusters. One of the most toured areas for ghost sightings in the US is Texas. The state is famous for the San Antonio hauntings, with many people visiting the local sites that are renowned for sightings.

Alamo is by far the most discussed location in the city. Legend has it that shortly after the historical Battle of Alamo, the local residents started seeing reincarnations of the dead. Since then, the stories have kept piling up. Many of the residents regard it as the most haunted location in San Antonio.

The downtown region also has a vibrant history of haunted hotels. If you harbor an active interest in the world of paranormal activities, a few solo nights at any of these establishments should help put your curiosity to rest. Top haunted establishments in this region include the Crockett, St. Anthony, Sheraton Gunter, Menger and Emily Morgan hotels.

If you are looking for a simple inn with a uniquely terrifying reputation, head over to the Holiday Inn Express. A crippling sense of fear will creep through you as you proceed to the reception. This facility once served as a county jail before it was converted into an establishment.

A plethora of its staff members and guests have reported strange occurrences on numerous occasions. When in your room, you get the eerie sensation that you are being watched. Many guests have reported seeing doors and windows open and shut on their own. Besides this, there have been odd apparitions captured on CCTV footage.

The Spanish Governors Residence is a site you might want to visit too. The outer section of the building looks sinister. It has played a host of functions since its inception. During the apex of the Battle of Alamo, it was a military fortification, before later occupants built shops and an execution ring within its vicinity.

Its hallways and outdoors are supposedly roamed by the spirits of young kids. There is talk of a past murder victim haunting the site as well. These tales point to the fact that people will continue believing in the afterlife and reincarnation, just as their ancestors did. The onus is on you to verify if the said claims are facts or the stuff of legend.

Another interesting place is the San Fernando Cathedral. One cannot fail to notice it when in town. It is the oldest landmark around. The Gothic architecture it embodies only accentuates its eerie nature. Lone worshipers often report being stalked by ghostly figures. This is even frightening to think about.

The nearby railroad tracks form an urban legend. To get to the site, head out to Shane Road. Tales of ghosts shoving parked vehicles onto the tracks are rife. Ghostly apparitions of nuns and children have also been reported before.

A trip to the deserted Midget Mansion should cap your tour. The 1920s structure has a morbid history. Neighbors usually report hearing eerie night screams. Some locals say Satanists use it as a rituals site.
