The Best Spots For Wine Tours Dahlonega GA

By Harold Baker

Ask anyone in the United States what they think of when they hear the words "wine country" and most will say California. Yes, the Sonoma Valley is ripe with wineries, but it is far from the only place in the country to go on tours. If you are on the east coast or somewhere west and want a change of pace, you can and should consider Wine Tours Dahlonega GA as a wonderful change of pace.

Nestled in the foothills of northern Georgia, the Dahlonega area is known for its fertile valleys, which allow for the perfect weather for growing grapes. There are six wineries in all, and even more tasting rooms all over the area carrying the many bottles and labels from these local makers. Overall, there are 100 acres in the area growing grapes.

Cavender Creek is one of the lucky six wineries that call these foothills home. They handcraft each bottle and pay special attention to quality, meaning they produce less bottles but with higher quality. You can taste that attention to detail in each drop of their cabernet sauvignons, American Nortons and petit Mansengs that they produce in small, artisan batches.

Kaya Vineyard & Winery, 5400 Town Creek Road, is formerly known as Blackstock Vineyards. They reopened and automatically became the largest winery resort across the region. The 12-foot windows in the tasting room, along with a 2,000 square foot covered deck make this a destination for soaring views of the nearby mountains, along with live music. They can hold parties for up to 300 people at a time, making them an event destination.

At 501 Hightower Church Road is the Montaluce Winery & Estates, which make you feel as if you have been swept away to Italy instead of Georgia. The reason is that great care has been taken to make the entire place, including the 25,000 square foot even facility, feel like a Tuscan villa.

Located at 180 Wolf Mountain Trail, the Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery is not just about the vino. They also have world class food that makes foodies travel here from all over, along with the expert wine pairings you would expect. They specialize in both European and southern cuisine, so you get a real feel for two different worlds. Their vintages have won over 150 medals from competitions across the country, including for their famous Champenoise sparkling wine.

Located at 439 Vineyard Way, the Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery has a whole lot to offer. They produce up to 4,000 cases of each of the many vintages they offer, so they always have plenty to pour and try at their crash pad deck or rock wall patio, both of which are comfortable for sitting and sipping. They have won over 150 medals and counting from national and local wine competitions, so do not sleep on this 184 acre behemoth of a winery.

For lots of selection, look no further than the 25 grape varieties grown at Frogtown Cellars, 700 Ridge Point Drive. Though smaller than others at 57 acres, it packs a punch, having a tri-level flow winery and a huge event facility for parties and weddings. It is also the most awarded vineyard in the area, meaning you always get a quality pour.
