Why go on a Cruise?

Whether it is a 3 star, 4 star or a luxury 5 star cruise you're boarding, the perks and activities on a cruise are almost endless, with something in store for young, old and everyone in between. Kids are definitely spoilt for choice on ships, but it is important to take the ages into consideration before you book as some cruise liners have more specific activities for teens compared to toddlers.

For example, a host of recreational activities on Carnival Cruise Lines are inclined towards teens, but the kids under 9 are not forgotten about. Neither are the older age groups with outdoor pools, whirlpools, movie cinemas and Broadway shows, followed but a host of other recreational activities that are divided in to age groups.

Toddlers groups normally cater for kids between ages 2 and 5 and can be found on all the modern cruise ships. Activities include things like coloring, drawing and singing. The category for juniors is normally ages 6 to 8 and will include things like talent shows and scavenger hunts. Teens and pre-teens get to take part in numerous water based activities in the myriad of different pools and well as other hi energy activities like rock wall climbing and, on some cruises, even ice skating.

There are some packages that have restrictions on beverages, so make sure you check exactly what's included before you sign up. But the dining options on board all the leading companies are world class and offer a range of choices encompassing flavors from around the world and menus prepared by world renowned chefs.

In the last ten years, cruising has become the fastest growing segment of the travel industry. Due to this we have seen both the amount and quality of cruise-liners improve dramatically. Ships on a scale never dreamed of before are being commissioned every year with some carrying as many as 4,500 people. They are no longer just large ships that traverse the seas to get from one place to another, but rather, regal floating cities with destinations set amongst the most beautiful places in the world.
