Upgrade The Security Of Your Business With RFID Key Cards

By Brenda Warner

For many businesses security is important, not only for their employees but customers as well. Hotels rely on good security for their guests so they may feel comfortable during their stay. This is why their is a new lock technology sweeping across the business and hospitality industry. The use of RFID key cards is fast becoming the standard in locking systems.

RFID stands for radio frequency identification. This type of technology is different from the magnetic stripe key cards and computer chip cards on the market, they are quickly fading in the background in the wake of RFID technology. The advantages of using the newer locking system are many.

The main advantage is the level of security that guests in hotel chains that use this technology have. There are no longer problems with illegal entry, or losing keys or keys not working due to being unreadable or worn from use. Magnetic strip and computer chip cards are notorious for malfunctioning due to repeated use. This was very costly for hotels as they either had to change the lock or get new cards that worked.

RFID technology features a locking system that is keyless and does not require physical contact with the lock itself. The card only has to be place within proximity of the locking device and the radio frequency that controls the lock will open it. Since it does not require being place in the lock to open, this reduces wear and tear on the card keys, thereby saving the business or hotel money in replacement costs.

Those who enjoy staying at hotels on their vacations or business can feel certain that their room is secure when they leave. It gives a certain confidence in the hotel chain that provides this service, and the keyless entry often creates repeat business as the customers return again and again. The uniqueness of the keyless entry is a wonder to hotel guests who seem to like using the latest technology.

As more and more businesses like hotels upgrade their locking systems, they are turning to RFID technologies. Pretty soon, this will be the standard among many hotel chains. Right now, as this system is gaining acceptance, not only for the financial benefit but for the betterment of security within a business, many will find that it just may be the only solution to keyless entry.

Not only does this device save money, but it will also save costs in repair and maintenance. Since the locks are not touched by human hands or exposed to dust or dirt that can get inside the mechanism and ruin it, the cost of replacing locks or keys is minimal. This also saves time as a business can use their maintenance department for other more pertinent issues within the business.

Technology is always progressing toward better and more refined ways of doing things. As society and business quickly adapt to newer technologies, there is always something better that comes along to replace the standard methods. As a business grows and develops over time, RFID technology is paving the way for more security on a budget, and this spells profits for businesses everywhere.
