Gulmarg Ski Packages Are Very Popular

By Krystal Branch

So you want to take a skiing holiday but the prices offered in such regions as Europe and the Americas are too high for you to afford. So what can you do to curb your costs for you and your family when travelling abroad on a skiing holiday? Why not try signing up for one of the many Gulmarg ski packages available for prospective holiday goers?

First up is Aspen in the state of Colorado in the US. Well known as a ski resort for the rich and famous, Aspen provides terrain that is excellent for skiers of various skill levels and abilities. However as this is natural haunts of celebrities and elites, the prices are often very high and may be a bit much for families hoping for a quiet mountain getaway, but there is still a lot of fun to be had anyway.

Another possible location is Cortina in Italy which lies within the Alps mountain range and hosted the 1956 Winter Olympic Games. Cortina is also one of the first ever ski resort cities along with the likes of Zermatt in Switzerland and boasts traffic free streets designed for just this purpose. It is also a very trendy place for prospective holiday goers.

The town is accessible by car or bus from Srinagar Airport at a drive of about two hours. There are somewhere in the region of about 40 hotels in the town. These range from low end budget accommodation to higher end 5-star hotels which are more akin to a bed and breakfast style than that of a hotel.

The place is considered the home of Indian winter sports and is rated as Asia's seventh highest rated ski destination. What makes the site unique is the special Gondola, which is one of the highest cable cars in the world. This cable car is able to move around 600 people an hour up and down the mountain.

Much of the ski slopes are still undeveloped which actually works to the benefits of most skiers. This underdevelopment means that there are very few predetermined ski routes. This means that more advanced skiers can blaze their own trail down the mountain leaving newbies to take their own time on the beaten paths.

However skiing isn't the only thing that goes in the area. During the summer months temperatures can go as high as 25 to 30 degrees Celsius and visitors to the town choose to undertake such pastimes as golfing, hiking, fishing, water skiing and horse riding. This place is also home to the highest green golf course in the world, the Gulmarg golf club.

So whether you want to take a trip to Europe or hop over the pond to the Americas your options are really open. This list is of course not exhaustive and there are lesser known resorts and Gulmarg ski packages in India that may also have what you are looking for. All it takes is a quick search on the internet to find the ski resort package that suits you best.
