How To Travel The World On A Budget

By Joseph Tranturder

There are many individuals who choose to not leave their furry friend behind when they go on vacations. There are also many thousands of families a year who move across great distances and are obliged to take their family pets with them. For both such groups, whether taking their pets out of necessity or for leisure, the realities of traveling with pets require additional planning and preparation by you the pet owner.

There are several tips and suggestions for those who are traveling with their pets in tow, and deciding which tips and suggestions will work best for you and your situation will help you to have a better overall experience with your next trip. One of the most common areas of potential issue comes when traveling with a pet in the car.

Look to start in places in India, Southeast Asia, and South America and so on in order to better stretch your money. As you prepare to head off on your trip make sure to travel light! You don't need a huge suitcase full of clothing as it will only end up costing you more money. Grab a carryon and stuff it with some clothes, your documents, camera (or maybe just your phone) and call it good. Don't buy gadgets specific for travel as they will probably get lost on the trip and used little if at all. One thing you can't forget to include in your pack is a travel guide be it paper or electronic.

Get Ahead with To Do's Before you head on your vacation, make a few goals on things you would like to get done before you leave. The idea is to get ahead at work or on errands at home so when you return you can gradually get back into the swing of things rather than being pushed underwater with the amount of work to do. Some things to think about doing before you leave could include cleaning the house, checking something on the car, getting next week's reports finished, and emptying the fridge before you leave.

Learn to Pack Start with a blank piece of paper and start listing all of the items you need to bring with you on the trip. Show the list to someone else to verify that you aren't missing anything. Mark the essential items that you would need on any trip and save the list for your next trip. Pack your suitcase and check off the items on your list. Generally start with your shoes on the bottom (stuffing socks in side of them) and fill in any remaining gaps. Lay a towel over top of your shoes and start packing your clothing starting with jeans, then shirts, then dress pants and shirts. Pack toiletries and other items in another compartment or use clothing to separate them from your more expensive clothing. Make sure that any liquids are sealed in a bag in case of spilling. Zip up your bag and check the dimensions so you don't get in trouble at the airport. Weight yourself on a scale and then pick up your bag and weigh yourself again. Use the difference between the two numbers to get the weight of your bag. Place your bag in the car or at the door so you don't end up forgetting it.

Check Expectations Remember you are taking a break from work and other cares but you are not expecting perfection. Your vacation is still life and things will go wrong so hope for a good trip but don't anticipate one. If you are planning a trip in Hawaii and end up with rain or if you are staying at a hotel in Norwalk, Connecticut and your room isn't ready guard your expectations. With this mentality you will be able to enjoy your vacation regardless of the imperfections.

Hotels in Norwalk, CT, for example, do not all accommodate pets, although you can find some within that same town that do. As you make your trip plans, be sure that you account for your lodging and that that establishment permits the stay of your pet. Once on the road there are several things to remember when traveling with your pet.

First and foremost is that the animal will need proper nourishment and hydration throughout the journey, even during the long stretches in-between stops so securing a water and food bowl in the kennel with the animal will be an important step.

If you do choose to book a hotel, whether it be a hotel in Norwalk, ct or London, UK; book small rooms and then ask for upgrades at the desk when you arrive. You may be pleasantly surprised. There is always hitchhiking which will allow you to cover great distances for nothing, but there is the chance that you run into some distasteful individuals so you can always book a rental car. Look for the cheapest model and you may be surprised to get a free upgrade when you arrive. Hopefully, these tips helped you get started on your way to traveling around the world on a budget. Best of luck and I hope that you are able to see it all.
