Chongqing In China - Top Spots For Any Backpacker

By Jonny Blair

Any form of adventure is usually exhilarating; it could be a ski trip, a hiking experience or even snorkeling. Other than these however, you could also opt to go for a tour across a country like China. Backpacking in this Republic could be rather interesting especially of you start with big cities like Chongqing.

It is always important to have some form of guide during such a tour. Going at it without such an item could turn out to be disastrous. The following are a few spots that you have to make a point of visiting while in Chongqing city.

While in the largest city in the world, a tour would not be properly so called without a visit to the Arhat Temple. Housed in this location is a great number of terracotta Buddhas. An interesting feature about these Buddhas is that they all are said to have achieved enlightenment.

For great views of the city skyline, you will definitely have to make a point of visiting Chaotianmen Park. While at the square you could get an ice cream and even try out a local snack while at it. The goal here is to get the most out of the visit, so you should not be hesitant to try out new things.

It is a fact that this massive city houses the biggest toilet complex in the world. One only has to see the complex to be awed by the magnitude of it. And, it would be really awesome to visit this place and later on brag about the whole experience to friends long after the tour is over.

Your goal as an international backpacker should be to experience every old and new aspect of the location. This means that you may just have to visit the 18 steps in the ancient part of the town. The views here are guaranteed to blow your mind away.

By touring across this city, you would also be contributing to the local tourism sector, which is a great thing. A tour of the Yangtze River for example usually costs 5RMB. This may seem meager but in the long run, these rates do much to improve the economy of the region.

The Foreigner Street located on the edges of the city would also be a great place to see. This location may not be stated in a travel guide but this does not mean it is not worth paying attention to. While here, one may experience Chinese delicacies at nearby restaurants.
