Experience Adventure With A Namibia Luxury Safari

By Catherine Jones

If you have an adventurous spirit and have dreamed of an African safari, the first thing you will need to do is research your options. If you are excited by the idea of seeing magnificent wild animals in their natural habitat, but not excited about the idea of roughing it with a tent and a jeep, there are luxurious alternatives where you can get the best of both worlds. Research the safari packages and find the Namibia luxury safari that suits you best.

One of the luxury flying safaris offers a variety of the beautiful sites, culture and wildlife of a country unlike anything you have ever experienced. The first stop by air travel is the small capital city of Windhoek. For your first night you can choose the breathe taking majesty of a Relais and Chateaux hotel, the best of the best, called Hotel Heinizburg. The hotel is a castle with German architecture. The castle has sixteen guest rooms, a pool and a gourmet restaurant. This is a fantastic start to a memorable adventure.

The next destination is the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. In a word this is unbelievable. Guests look out to see towering sand dunes that are beautifully colored terracotta. The color of the sand and the vast expanse of dunes are breathe taking. This extremely dry ecosystem seems unable to sustain life. In fact, life is only visible in flat pans of sand called vleis. Two days will be spent at the Lodge and surrounding Namib Desert.

The next destination is Damaraland where you stay at the Mowani Mountain Camp, part of the Twfelfontein Conservancy. The fourteen huts are built to compliment the surrounding terrain and grouped closely together as they would be in a typical African village. This site offers a variety of activities and a chance to go on an elephant nature ride. The next day, take a hot air balloon to see broad views of this marvelous country.

Following two days of staying at the Conservancy, the final leg of the trip is the Etosha National Park. You are going to be here for two days. The Mushara Collection, a lodge that has separate villas, or the Onguma Game Reserve are your choices for lodging. The surrounding acreage is home to many of the majestic African animals. The various species, some familiar and some not, intermingle at the nearest watering hole.

This is the last stop, and at the end of your stay you will be transferred back to Windhoek, and eventually your return flight home. This is only one of the several luxury safaris offered by various travel companies. The cost of this package is over five thousand dollars per person. This is the price of luxury, especially in a country where nature reigns and the landscapes have not been marred by high rise hotels.

You should first spend hours researching the different websites. They are very elaborate and detailed with complete itineraries and magnificent photos. Any one of these safaris would be the trip of a lifetime.

If you have never been to an African country you will surely be taken aback by the land, the animals, the buildings and the people. You will see these beautiful sights as if through the eyes of a small child. Everything will be that new to you. You will absolutely be awestruck.
