Puerto Penasco or Rocky Point Mexico Has It All

By Teddy Williams

Puerto Penasco Mexico, or better yet, Rocky Point Mexico is a vacation place for Americans for as far back as I can remember. A quaint little fishing village that is situated only 45 minutes past the border town of Sonoita, it offers tranquility and the simple things in life.

When I first used to go down to Rocky Point it was barren with miles of sandy beach and people camping on the beach. That is not the case today. If you were to go down there now, you would see tall buildings and condos all along the coast. What used to be a place to take your quad and ride on the beach, is no longer an option.

Rocky Point has flourished with the building the condominiums along Sandy Beach. The local town has seen increased dollars pour into the infrastructures of the city and help thousands. People from all over the map are now seeking retirement homes along the sands of Sandy Beach. Whether you are investing or seeking a place to lay your hat when you finally call it quits, it is a great destination.

It is not uncommon to be sitting in your condo on the top floors and see dolphins playing in the ocean and birds diving for their next meal. If you sit out on the porch at night you can see a long line of lights off in the distance which are the local shrimping boats. During the day you can watch folks strolling along the beach or small planes cruising along the coastline taking in the view. It has become a relaxing get away for people from all over and one of the main attractions is how close it remains to the border.

Roads have opened up so people from California can drive to Rocky Point without any problems. Fights are opening up as well to fly into Rocky Point on a regular basis. There is a Mayan Palace also situated on the outskirts of town only 10 minutes away. The food in Rocky Point is exquisite and a delight.

Rocky Point used to be known solely for its fishing but now you can also find activities like boating, sailing, dolphin or whale watching, dinner cruises and jet skiing to name just a few. Everyone can find something to do and there are many scheduled activities throughout the year. Watching a sunset in Puerto Penasco is a life changer and will most certainly make an impression on you.

With Househunters International recently airing a live show from the sands of Sandy Beach, Rocky Point is on the international map of places to go. I don't see any change in this and it will continue to grow. Cruise ships will be docked in Rocky Point in the very near future and a lot of money has been invested in this. Along with the international airport, this small fishing town will continue to grow.
