The Truth About Black Bear Hunting

By Linda Ruiz

Way back in even the earliest times, man has mastered the art of hunting. In fact, the said art has kept him and his family alive, even before the advent of food stalls and fast food chains. Man even moved from place to place just to be able to chase after food, honing the superb hunting skills inherent in him in order to survive.

There are many kinds of animals in the wild. Population is not evenly distributed among species, and there are some who are more in numbers than others. Most of the time, when creatures are allowed to flourish and grow, an imbalance in the ecosystem happens. This is why people participate in Black Bear Hunting Canada to provide remedy to the problem.

There are many types of bears in the world, found in separate distinct locations. The brown one, for starters, is a very large specie distributed all throughout the Northern hemisphere. Its tracks actually dig deeper than that of the black one. It has very many regional variations, such as the grizzly, the Eurasian, Amur, and so many others.

Another type of bear has a coat that is as dark as the night. This is more common than its brown brother, found all over the country and neighboring nations. They live deep in the forests, and are partial to crops, especially oats. They are most often hunted during springtime.

The black bear is usually hunted during spring, as it is the time when they sport their best coats. The superior fur is often a staple in couture fashion, modeled by long legged ladies all over the runway. They are often transformed into winter apparel, as bearskin has wonderful insulating capabilities.

Bear meat is also gathered for culinary purposes. The best hunters back then had more than enough meat to eat. They usually baked it or have it boiled in a delicious soup or stew, but they never eat it raw. Trichinella infection in the body of such animal calls for it to be cooked thoroughly as it is considered potentially lethal for humans.

Aside from the meat, people have also discovered uses for the bear fat. They used it mainly as cooking oil, even though it is not as good as the vegetable variety. It is also used as lamp fuels, used to light homes after dark. The native tribes also used the fat as medicine.

Even the gall bladder of the animal has its usage. It is a very valuable material in the world of traditional Chinese medicine. Even in the ancient times, the Chinese used bile from bear bladder to supposedly cure rheumatism, poor eyesight, and gall stones. The useful bile is believed to be produced by most bear types except for the Giant Panda.

The public is torn between having to side up to or to turn against the idea of hunting. Most environmentalists say that hunting is bad for the environment. The truth of the matter is that the act actually has its benefits. For starters, it will give way for the smaller species to allow themselves to recover and increase in number. Hunting also is a way to keep the population in check, as over population in some species can lead to far more bigger problems.
